Roy Keane has again put David De Gea in charge and urged Manchester United to replace the goalkeeper this summer if they are to fight for the Premier League title. The player has made a number of serious mistakes this season, leading to much speculation about his ability to retain his position as a first-choice goalkeeper.
« I’ve never been a big fan of his. He makes too many mistakes, big mistakes that cost United big points… That’s my opinion. If Manchester United want to fight for the championship, they need a better goalkeeper, » Keane told Sky Sports.
« They need a change, they’ve already done it… Strikers are being eliminated or sold off, and midfielders are being sold off, but for some reason, with goalkeepers, they think we need to stay longer than the others because of something they did two or three years ago, » he continued.
« The game doesn’t work like that, we saw Liverpool go to another level when they changed the goalkeeper. What’s the problem? If he’s not doing well, it’s because he’s making mistakes, that there’s a change. There are good goalkeepers out there. » concludes the former player.
